We here at iSteptoo have focused on several incarnations of stepping, however we have yet to really touch on the more In-Yo-Face aspect of the good-ole Gumboot Dance (was that a historical reference…I believe it was). So we, being the keepers of Step and all that is Certified LIVE, decided to bring you some of the more- outside your dorm window stepping. Step shows are cool and definitely have their place but battling demands that you bring it. The setting: spectators surrounding you on all sides with the other team all of 4 feet from you. The anticipation of intensity, precision, and power is all around you. The guardians of your small flubs such as distance of the stage or the dimly lit gymnasium that preside at a step show are absent. They are replaced with a small circumference of people and the opposing steppers, you can’t run-nor can you hide from this moment, from this challenge.
